Bob was a 1946 graduate of Rock Island High School, completing his schooling after returning from his military service. He later attended Augustana College. He worked for John Deere Plow and Planter in Moline, retiring as a quality control supervisor in 1982. He had served on the board of directors of the Plow & Planter Works Credit Union, and had been the financial secretary of UAW Local 434. Bob had also been elected to and served on the National Wage and Hour Council.
Bob was a member of American Legion Post 246, Moline, VFW Post 1303, Rock Island, the Plus 60 Club, AARP, and the Corporation of Retired Employees.
Survivors include his daughter, Christine Kay Rote; son, Mark Robert Allen; son-in-law, Bob Petersmith; brother and sister-in-law, Donald C. and Joyce Allen; and five grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Cynthia Ann Petersmith.
