Matt Cornelius Amos, 97, of 1206 Morse St., died Thursday afternoon at this home following an illness of several months.

Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Shiloh Church of God In Christ with Elder L.C. Crosby officiating. Burial will be in East Mount Cemetery.

Mr. Amos, a native of Hunt County, was born July 2, 1875, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Razz Amos. He married the former Manervia Sims on May 8, 1928 in Greenville.

Survivors include his wife, Minervia of Greenville; four sons, Eugene of Galveston, Lyord of Ponca City, Okla., Leroy and Esaw Amos, both of Greenville; one daughter, Mrs. Blanche Turner of Galveston; one step-daughter, Mrs. Vivian Criner of Dallas, 12 grandchildren and one nephew, Steve Brown of Dallas.
