MISS ZORA CHASE, RETIRED SCHOOL TEACHER, EXPIRES

Miss Zora E. Chase, who for 27 years was a teacher in the Knox county public schools, died suddenly at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in her home, 488 Jefferson street. Miss Chase was stricken acutely ill with a heart attack, and died within a few minutes.

The daughter of John H. and Mary A. Chase, she was born in Douglas on Oct. 4, 1871. The family later moved here, and Miss Chase was educated in the public schools, later graduating from Knox college in the class of 1898. After teaching for 27 years in the county schools, she retired. She was an active member of the First Methodist church, and belonged to the W.C.T.U., of which local group she was corresponding secretary for many years.

She is survived by one sister, Miss Nellie B. Chase, at home; two nephews, Paul D. Chase of this city and Wayne H. Chase of Elmwood; two nieces, Mrs. Nina Chase Elliott of Farmington and Mrs. Doris Chase Elliott of Yates City, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be held in her home, 488 Jefferson street, at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Friends may call at the home Friday night.

Services for Miss Zora Chase, 488 Jefferson street, a former school teacher for 27 years who died Wednesday at her home, will be held at the residence Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery. Friends may call tonight at the home.

LAST RITES ARE HELD FOR MISS ZORA CHASE

Funeral services for Miss Zora Chase, retired school teacher, were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon from the home, 488 Jefferson street. Dr. T.E. Newland officiated, assisted by Dr. S.A. Guthrie. Mrs. Mills Westfall and Mrs. Mike Pitman sang "Sometime, Somewhere" and "Going Down the Valley, One by One." Burial was in Linwood cemetery. Casket bearers were Ralph Lucas, R.C. Rice, Jesse R. Peck, Oscar W. Carlson, A.A. Nesselrode and Dr. F.W. Wolf.
