Lloyd Eugene "Gene" Chipman of Marysville, passed into the arms of Jesus Christ, his beloved Lord and Savior, on July 3rd at the Ohio State University Hospital following surgery complications. A licensed minister with the Church of God, he was a faithful member of Living Waters Church of God near Marysville. He was an evangelist and gospel singer who served God wherever and whenever needed. Gene never knew a stranger and was loved by all privileged to know him. He found great joy in helping others in need and touched many lives with his kindness and never-ending generosity.
A veteran of the US Army, Gene was a hard worker with diversified interests. He tried his hand as a businessman in Kentucky where he and his first wife, Norma, owned an apartment complex and restaurant. However, what he loved was the job he retired from, Conrail in Columbus, where he couldn't wait to get to work each morning. A true "people person", he enjoyed flea markets, yard sales and making new friends wherever he went.
Gene was born on June 2, 1939 in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, to the late Tilden and Rosella Washum Chipman. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Norma, and brothers Larry, Robert, Charles and Tilden Jr.
He is survived by his second wife, the former Donna (Hawthorne) Riegler whom he married on June 26, 2011; siblings Alma Elliot, Howard Chipman, Eddie Chipman & Richard Chipman; daughters Debbie Chipman & Sondra Staten; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and very dear friends Gary Payne, Keith Allen and Rev. Jasper Marcum.
Services will be held Thursday, July 12 at the Ingram Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with funeral services to begin immediately following visitation led by Rev. Jasper Marcum.
