Dr. John T. Bressler, Well-known Dentist, Dies at Shepherdstown Special to The Telegraph
Mechanicsburg, Pa., Nov. 4. - Dr. John T. Bressler, of Shepherdstown, died Sunday morning at his home in that place, after an illness of one year, due to paralysis. He was 63 years old. Dr. Bressler was widely known in that section, where he has resided for the past forty years. He was born in Bellefonte, February 25, 1850, and was five years old when the family moved to York, where he received his early education. He studied under the Rev. A. M. Eberly, at Cottage Hill College, where he graduated. Then he took up dentistry with his father, completing his course of study and removing to Upper Allen township, where he has practiced his profession at Shepherdstown ever since. He was justice of the peace and served two terms as assessor of his township. In addition to being a skillful dentist, he has won a justifiable reputation as an inventor, one of his designs being a wheel washer, a device for hubs to utilize lost motion; also a combined roller and harrow. In 1870 Dr. Bressler married Miss Alice Pollinger, of York county (sic). He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. His wife and the following children survive:
Mrs. O. E. Warfield, of Harrisburg; Mrs. H. C. Swartz, of Albany, N.Y.; Mrs. Edwin Nailor, of Mechanicsburg; Mrs. Lawrence Eckels, of Steelton; Mrs. D. E. Callaway, of Hagerstown; Robert Bressler, of Harrisburg, and Miss Nellie Bressler, at home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, at 10 o'clock, at his late home. Burial will be made in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
