Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00pm, Friday, March 27, 2015 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Memorial services will follow at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel.
Tommy grew up in Greer Mill, SC where he worked as a young man. In 1957 he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK, where he met his best friend and life-long companion, Linda. On October 24, 1959, he married the love of his life and they shared 56 years of happiness.
The other loves of his life were sailing, photography and his children. He was a free-lance photographer and a member of the Jackson Photographic Society. Tommy started his career at Little Rock Road Machinery in Little Rock, AR and later became associated with the Clark Forklift dealerships in Little Rock, Beaumont, TX, Houston, TX and Jackson, where he retired in 2000. After a short time in retirement, he became associated with Daily Equipment Company in Pearl, until 2010. Since that time he worked as a volunteer for Baptist Hospital in the O.R. waiting room, a job he thoroughly enjoyed, as he could provide help and reassurance to families in a time of uncertainty and need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Carroll Dobbins, brother Eugene Dobbins, and sister, Betty Joyce Mullinax.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda; brother, Jimmy Dobbins; children, Toni, Tad and Tracy; grandchildren, Jessica, Nathan, Mariah, Danielle and Shannon; and great-grandchild, Gabriel.
Tommy will best be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and friend to many. As a tribute to Tommy's heart for service to others, memorials may be made to the Baptist Health System Volunteer Services, 1225 N. State Street, Jackson, MS 39202.
