Mrs. Mary Brooks McFadyen, 86, of Vass, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at her home with her family by her side.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Cypress Presbyterian Church in Cameron with Rev. Barbara Hedin and Rev. Richard Rodda officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mary was born in Southern Pines, North Carolina on December 21, 1928 to Herbert and Myrtle Morrison Brooks.

She spent her career as a devoted teacher at Vass-Lakeview Elementary School for 24 years.

She was a member of Cypress Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where she served as Clerk of Session 12 years with Richard Rodda. She was awarded the Women of the Church Life Membership, served as an elder, deacon, Sunday School Teacher and also sang in the choir.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Neil Dougald McFadyen; son, Stewart Morrison McFadyen and wife Patricia of Vass; daughter, Jane McInnis and husband Richard of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Katherine, Andrew and Robert McFadyen, Scott and Alan McInnis; niece, Anne Seagroves of Vass; nephew, David Seagroves of Anchorage, Alaska.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Myrtle Brooks, sisters, Margaret Johnson and Alice Seagroves; nephews, Michael Johnson and Anthony Seagroves.
