TEXAS CITY - Garland V. Steed, 79, of Texas City, passed away November 25, 2006, at Gulf Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2006, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in League City. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Steed was born July 20, 1927 in Chilton, Texas. He retired from Union Carbide after 32.5 years of service. He served his country in the United States Merchant Marines.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Steed; son Wayne Steed; and 2 brothers, Lonie and Ray Steed.

Survivors include sons Vancil Steed of Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, and Robert Steed of Mineral Wells, Texas; daughter Roxanne Cook of Surfside, Texas; his former wife of 19 years, Gerry Steed of Texas City; stepson Paul Kelley of Texas City; stepdaughter Jaclyn Shipley, currently in Iraq; brother Correy Steed of Austin; sister Joanne Watts of West Columbia; and nine grandchildren.
