Philip was class president and a 1948 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, and attended Hiram College. He served his country in the US Navy from 1951-1955 as a 3rd Class Medical Corpsman. Philip was employed by Brainard Steel Tube and Strapping, and also with Universal CIT Credit Corp. He started his banking career with the North Bloomfield Banking Co. in 1963. Three mergers have taken place; Union National Bank of Youngstown, Bank One, and now Chase Bank. Philip was a bank manager for thirty years until his retirement in 1993.
Philip was a member of Warren Jaycees, Senior Chamber of Commerce, past treasurer of Religion in American Life, past president of NEO Bankers Association, past treasurer & president of Warren Exchange Club, and past treasurer of Warren Civic Music Association. He was a member of Warren's First United Methodist Church. After retiring in 1993 he traveled throughout the USA with a 5th wheel trailer doing Christian mission work projects with MMAP (Mobile Missionary Assistance Program), also doing independent projects at Christian Camps in Ohio, SE parts of the USA, and Australia. He and Nancy volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank. Philip also enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, and working for the Lord.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Meigs.
