William John Farmakes, 79, Superior, died Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, March 30, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski officiating.

He was born April 28, 1935, in Superior to John and Urania (Agorastos) Farmakes.

He attended Superior public schools and graduated from the former Central High School in 1953 and the University of Wisconsin, Superior, with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education and a Masters in School Counseling. He earned a Specialist Degree in Educational Administration in 1971 from the same institution. Bill married Carol Johnson July 16, 1955.

After obtaining his teaching credentials, Bill worked as a school Government/Civics teacher and he taught Senior Prob's. He also worked as a switchman. He retired as a yardmaster with the DWP in 1989.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Farmakes; and sister, Francis (Farmakes) Solon.
