Died, another one of Clinton's sainted mothers, Cynthia W. Williams, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Elliott, East Wilson street, which was also her home, Thursday evening, July 30, at 7:50 after an illness of a little over a week, with the infirmities of old age, aged 87. She was the daughter of Rev. David Bradfield Ripley; was twice married, her first husband being David Jay and second, Cornelius Williams. To her second marriage were born two daughters. Her surviving daughter, Mrs. John Elliott, is left to mourn the loss of a true and noble Christian mother, whose wise counsels have ever been of great comfort. Friday noon, short prayer was conducted at the late residence, then the remains were taken to Bethlehem where Rev. Ramsey conducted the funeral and the body was then laid to rest by the side of her last husband and one daughter, in Bethlehem cemetery. She was born in Conn. June 29, 1816. Her father graduated at Yale in 1798 and was pastor of the congregational Church at Marlborough, Conn. about 25 years. He died at Endor, Illinois. After she married Mr. Williams, they moved to Henry county in 1856. Mr. Williams died in Bethlehem township near 30 years ago. He was a blacksmith and was much beloved by their neighbors. He died soon after the death of their daughter and was buried by her in Bethlehem. She united with the Presbyterian church many years ago.
Cynthia married first David Jay about 1830. She married Cornelius Williams of Missouri second.
