Jacob E. Senff was born 9 Sep 1868 in German Twp., Marshall Co., IN to William Senff and Anna Kazia Kitch. He grew to manhood in the vicinity of his birth and in 1889 was united in marriage to Alice Nehrer. To this union was born one son, Harvey Delbert Senff. The mother died shortly after the childs birth.
In March 1892, Jacob was united in marriage to Della Phend. To this union was born six children, one, Roy W. Senff, dying in infancy. They made their home near Bremen, IN, until 1918, when they moved to a farm near Ladysmith, WI. Both Mrs. and Mrs. Senff were united with the Church of Christ soon after moving to this community. Both were active in church work as long as health permitted. Mr. Senff having served as elder for several years.
Mr. Senff was also active in the political life of the community having served for several years as a treasurer of the town of Thornapple. He was highly repsected as a citizen of the community.
Mrs. Senff preceded him in death in 1932. Since then he had made his home with his son, Lawrence, who cared for him until his death on 24 Aug 1944 at age 75.
Left to mourn are the following children: Harvey (Laura) Senff of Argos, IN, Archie (Bertha) Senff of Norwalk, CA, Iva (Ralph) Albert of Conrath, WI, Ruth (John) Lahner of Eau Claire, WI, Lawrence (Anna) Senff of Ladysmith, WI,and Hilda (Arnold) Feller of Bruce, WI. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Phillip and Jesse Senff of Bremen, IN, and Levi Senff of Nappanee, IN.
