The twin brother of Indiana Fletcher died within a year of birth. According to a letter written by Elijah Fletcher on August 3, 1828, Elijah and his wife had not yet settled on names for Indiana and her brother, and there is no known record of the child ever having been given a formal name, although Elijah talks in his letters about how his wife wanted the twins named after Elijah and herself. Her plans to name the twins Elijah and Marie Antoinette were apparently canceled upon the heartbreaking death of the little boy.

Elijah describes both Indiana and her twin brother as "hearty and well" at that time but sadly this condition did not last for the twin brother. It is not clear when he died exactly, but records indicate he did not last the year.
