Ada M. Eckenrode Malone, age 98 of Mechanicsburg, formerly of Biglerville, died Friday, March 20, 2015 at Messiah Village in Mechanicsburg. She was born Wednesday, November 1, 1916 in Grove, VA, the daughter of the late Foster and Laura (Gelwick) Martin.
Ada was a cook at Biglerville High School in the late 1950's and early 1960's. She was a member of the Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church. Ada resided at Messiah Village for many years. The care and comfort she was provided there was exceptional. Her family and staff from Messiah Village will miss her greatly. Her caregiver, Pat Shope was among her many blessings.
Her first husband, Ralph L. Eckenrode, Sr. died in 1974 and her second husband, Roy Malone in 1999. She is survived by son, Ralph L. and wife Yvonne Eckenrode, Jr. and granddaughter, Chelsea A. Burton, all of Martinsburg WV; two grandsons: Timothy S. and wife Beth Eckenrode of Pittsburgh, S. Cody and wife Heather Eckenrode of Martinsburg, three great-grandsons: Baxter S. Eckenrode and Harrison L. Eckenrode, both of Pittsburgh, Lincoln R. Eckenrode and great-granddaughter, Jillian S. Burton, both of Martinsburg. She was preceded in death by grandson, Ronald L. Eckenrode, brothers; Allen P. Martin, George N. Martin, Samuel O. Martin and sister, Harriet C. Rider.
Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 26 at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Charles R. Burgard officiating. Interment will be in Biglerville Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
