Ben Froemming was born in Leaf Valley, Minnesota May 29, 1899, the son of Herman and Emilie Achterberg Froemming. He was baptized June 25, 1899 and confirmed in 1913 at Ebenezer Church in Leaf Valley.
Mr. Froemming owned and operated Leaf Valley Store, Valley Mercantile and operated in partnership a wholesale egg business in Bertha, Minnesota. In 1943 he moved to Alexandria, Minnesota and owned and operated a wholesale bottling and beverage business, as well as several farms. He was united in marriage to Zinnola Melzer October 17, 1945 at Alexandria, Minnesota. Mr. Froemming was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. In 1954 Mr. Froemming started selling Real Estate, retiring in 1962. Ben enjoyed full time, his hunting and fishing hobbies.
He passed away at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, Minnesota, August 9, 1980 at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his wife, Zinnola; three sons and one daughter: Roland of Alexandria; Eugene of Cass Lake; Russell of Sauk Centre; Charlotte Grundei of St. Cloud, Minnesota. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Duane; two brothers: Robert and Ewald; two sisters: Eleanore and Ena.
Funeral services were August 13, 1980 at Zion Lutheran Church, Alexandria. Rev. Robert Brueske officiating. Interment in Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria. Pallbearers were Dean Froemming, Keith Froemming, Bruce Froemming, Mark Froemming, George Ketter and Harry Uhde. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
