Charles Kenneth Foslien, 48, a native of Alexandria, passed away Sunday, April 1, at his home in Dallas, Texas. He was serving as advertising manager for the Dearborn Stove company in that city.
Foslien was born and raised at Alexandria. He moved to Dallas in 1947 from Minneapolis. When he moved to Dallas, he joined the Grant Advertising Agency, working for two years as the firm's art director.
He joined the Dearborn Stove company in 1949. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Foslien did graduate work in New York City at the National Academy of Art. He was an honor student. He also won a scholarship at the Grand Central School of Art and also attended art courses at Columbia University in New York City.
Foslien was winner of several national awards for distinctive packaging designs. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal church and of the Dallas Advertising League.
Survivors include his wife and 12-year-old son, Creighton Foslien, both of Dallas, and a sister, Mrs. Lester Brown of Sauk Centre.
Funeral services were held April 3 in the Campbell Funeral Home in Dallas with Rev. J. Gordon Peterson officiating. Short funeral services also were held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria Thursday, April 5, and burial was made in Kinkead cemetery.
