Mr. Foslien was born at Evansville, Oct. 20, 1891, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie K. Foslien. As a small boy he came with his parents and family to Alexandria. This was his residence for over 50 years.
For many years Mr. Foslien was employed by the N. P. Ward Grocery company of this city. He later purchased and operated this store for a number of years. For over 30 years he represented the wholesalers, Griggs Cooper Co. of St. Paul, as salesman in this territory. Later he built and operated Morningside resort on Lake Carlos, selling his interest only last year.
Mr. Foslien was united in marriage to Julia Whalan May 8, 1914.
He took an active interest in community and civic affairs. He was a member of the IOOF lodge of Alexandria and of the Alexandria chapter of the United Commercial Travelers, of which he served as Grand Chaplain for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Lester Brown of Sauk Centre, and one brother, Kenneth Foslien of Dallas, Tex., and many other relatives.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 20 at 3:00 p.m at the Anderson Funeral home, Rev. Wm. W. Renner officiating. Music was furnished by members of the St. Mary's choir. Pallbearers were Robert Chan, A. C. Schneiderhan, Vernon Erickson, Lester Young, Wm. McFarlane and Art Pfeiffer. Interment was in Kinkead Cemetery.
