Sam was the eldest of three children b. to
Edward Hobby Lewis, b. abt. 1817 in SC. and d. Apr. 18, 1878 in Natchitoches Parish, LA. &
Sarah 'Sally' Lenora Lay, b. abt. 1852 in LA. and d. in Red River, LA. sometime after 1880.

Edward Hobby Lewis and Sarah Lenora Lay were married on Oct. 17, 1870 in Natchitoches Parish, LA. (This was a 2nd marriage for him.)

Edward and Sarah Lewis' children were:
1. Samuel Noland Lewis, b. Aug. 22, 1871 in Natchitoches Parish, LA. and d. Jun. 6, 1945 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, LA.
2. Edgar Bentley Lewis, b. Feb. 5, 1874 in Closo Point Plantation, Natchitoches, LA. and d. Aug. 28, 1963 in Coushatta, Red River, LA. He marr. Minnie Cagle.
3. Alice Lewis, b. Mar. 31, 1875 in Natchitoches Parish, LA. and d. Jan. 25, 1929 in LA. Alice marr. Allen Byrd.

On Oct. 21, 1891, Sam Noland Lewis and Izora Cloud were married in Natchitoches Parish, LA.

Yvonne and her husband had one son with Capt. Van Fleet, named James Jr.
3. Lola Lillian Lewis, b. Aug. 6, 1897 in LA. and d. May 1, 1984 in Ventura county, CA. Lola marr. __ LeBard.
4. Noah Nelson Lewis, b. Aug, 8, 1899 in Natchitoches Parish, LA. and d. Feb. 27, 1985 in Phoenix, Maricopa, AZ.

-However, Sam was actually born in Dec., 1901, and used his brother, Noah Nelson Lewis's birthdate in order to join the Navy in WWI.
