SNYDER - Delphia Snyder
Beloved wife of Dr. Norman Snyder passed away peacefully on November 8, 2003 with family at her side at the Citrus Valley Hospice after a brief bout with acute cancer.
She was born Delphia Norman in Clear Lake, Iowa August 31, 1928. The youngest of three sisters, her childhood nickmane was Trudy. Delphia was raised in Marshalltown, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in French & Romance Languages.
She met Norman G. Snyder at a tea dance at the University of Iowa and married him on August 13, 1950. They had four children, Michael Dean, David Neil, Catharine Anne & Jonathan Scott. After raising her family Delphia returned to school, earning a Masters degree in French and a teaching credential from California State University at Los Angeles. She taught languages and English literature at Royal Oak High School for seventeen years. Upon retirement Delphia was a volunteer for Reading for the Blind, the Red Cross and a thrift shop which raised money for cancer research. She also indulged her love of reading, chocolate, bridge and travel. Delphia thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved them and her great grandchildren dearly.
She is survived by her husband, her sister, Sarah Repka of Billings, Montana; her four children and their spouses, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
We will all miss her graciousness, thoughtfulness, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor.
Funeral services, 1:30 P.M., Thursday, November 13, 2003, at Memory Chapel, Forest Lawn, CA. Visitation held, 9:30 A.M. - 1:00 P.M., Thursday, November 13, 2003 at Forest Lawn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Citrus Valley Hospice, 820 N. Philips Ave., West Covina, CA 91791. Services conducted by Forest Lawn Mortuary, Covina CA.
