Horace “H.L.” Barnes, age 83, died Thursday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. He was born in Wilson County to the late Hugh and Cora Barnes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy F. Barnes and son, Ronald Barnes. He was an active member of Adamsville Baptist Church.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Elaine L. Barnes; two sons and daughter-in-law, Dean & Sandra Barnes and Mark Barnes, both of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Rocky Barnes and Bryan and Megan Barnes; two great-grandchildren, Parker Barnes and Brayden Barnes; four step-children and eight step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00am at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastors Dave Kearn and Bobby Heath officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
