MATTIE BELLE BUTTON
Mattie Belle Button, daughter of Aaron and Cynthia Leaverton was born southeast of Adel, Iowa on August 16, 1872 and passed away July 3, 1965 at the Dexter Clinic, Dexter, Iowa at the age of 92 years. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Mattie Button was a lifetime resident of Dallas County, except for a few years when she resided in Madison County.
She was united in marriage to John Thomas Button on October 12, 1892 at Adel. They were the parents of 9 children.
Surviving to mourn her passing are Mrs. Opal Harvey of Long Beach, California; Dewey Button of Sacramento, California; Mrs. Martha Ellsworth, John August, and Clarke Button, all of Adel; 21 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, and three sons, Harold, Ivol, and George.
In her early life Mattie Button was a member of the Panther Creek United Brethren Church. Laura she transferred her membership to the Methodist Church in Adel.
