Virginia Estelle Pendley was born 8-11-1926 in Hanna Oklahoma to Mary Matilda Kidwell and Martin Smith Pendley. From the beginning she was an animal lover, always carrying around a cat or a chicken. At the age of 3 she developed diptheria, and the dr was summoned. The entire family had to take shots and Grandma was told her daughter would not live the night. After the dr left moms older brother, Roy, went out into the cornfield some distance from the house and began to pray for his sister. They could hear him praying all the way back to the house. When he finished he came back and told my grandma not to worry, Estelle would be okay because he saw angels all around her.
When we were in our late teens mom began a babysitting adventure. We counted over 100 children that mom babysat for over the years. The kids called her Ma.
