A January 5th blizzard greeted Florian’s 1925 entry into this world at her home on the famous Route 66 in El Reno, OK. She and her parents, Joe and Bessie (Winegar) Walker, witnessed many historic events take place, one being the marathon Bunion races. During pneumonia, at eleven months of age, three doctors told her mother that Florian would be dead by morning. After a Mother’s prayer, the family doctor was surprised the next morning to find a recuperating baby .

Florian graduated from El Reno High School in 1943 and attended a War-Time Program at the University of Oklahoma. She worked at Southwestern Bell during W W II. On April 12, 1947, she married Wilbur Mason, cousin to one of her best friends. Wilbur served with the 36th Texas Division during W W II. He was called back to duty for the Korean War and Flo accompanied him to Petersburg, Virginia, where she transferred to work. They visited many historic places, their favorite being Yorktown.

In December 1954 Flo and Wilbur moved to Oklahoma City and lived there until Wilbur’s sudden death February 3, 2009. Flo served on the Board of Our American Heritage Committee and later citizen lobbied for better textbooks. For ten years she served as Chairman of the Social Issues Committee for Oklahoma Free Methodists. She was President of Poetry Society of Oklahoma in 1996, 1997, and Co-Chairman with Wilbur in 2000. She belonged to Oklahoma City Writers and served as Chaplain for Frontier Country Republican Women, Flo considered herself a Christian, Guardian of Home/Family, Patriot/American and Poet/Writer. She lived through The Great Depression, Dust Bowl, WW II, family deaths, home fire, two freak leg accidents and colon cancer in September 1998, so another role she claimed was SURVIVOR.

Flo was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wilbur. Brother Gaylord Walker. She is survived by Rev.
