Lester B Weaver, 95, Succumbs
Death came yesterday afternoon at his home at 1017 E. 1st Avenue to Lester B Weaver, 95-year-old Albany retired carpenter, just two weeks after his seventy-third wedding anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Weaver last year observed their seventy-second anniversary at their home on Christmas day but last Christmas he was too ill to participate in such an observance, The Weaver's have been married longer than any other couple in Albany.

Born at Durand, Ill., Jan 28, 1857, Mr. Weaver grew to manhood in Illinois and engaged in the lumber business and a general merchandising enterprise before moving to Nebraska where he resided for 23 years. He and Mrs. Weaver came to Albany in 1910. He was engaged as a carpenter here for many years before retiring. He was employed also in a hardware store and a lumber yard.

Mr. Weaver had been a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge for 50 years and was a member of the Albany Townsend club.

Surviving are the widow, the former Viola O. Phipps, whom he married December 25, 1879, at Durand, a nephew, Sgt. Roy Weaver, with the U. S. Army at Whittier, Alaska; a niece, Mrs. Elva Atwood of Bremerton, Wash., and a great-niece, Mrs. John Bryant, Albany, whom they had reared since her babyhood.

Three daughters all died of Diphtheria within 2 weeks in 1889 while the Weaver's were living in Nebraska, Mr. Weaver was the last surviving member of a family three boys and four girls. A brother, the late Will Weaver resided at Albany.

Funeral services will be held at the Fisher Funeral home at 10 a.m., Saturday. Ritualistic services will be conducted by members of the Albany I.O.O.F. lodge at the chapel. Cremation will follow at the Salem Crematorium.
