Ray was born to Orval and Rosie Hill in Ainsworth, Nebraska on March 13, 1926.
Ray lived a purposefully simple life with his wife of 50-1/2 years, Wilma Lillian Tompkins Hill who preceded him in death in 2006.
Ray devoted his life to his faith, his wife, his children and helping others. He touched many lives over the span on his life by giving to others even when there was little to give. He is well remembered by many in the community impacted by his giving nature. He was also known for his craftsmanship, and ability to fix just about anything. He was also insatiable for knowledge, naturally curious and a voracious reader.
Originally a farmer from South Dakota, Ray was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War.
Following his military service he later moved west first landing in Colorado, then Washington State and finally settling in Greenfield, CA where he lived for approximately 57 years. He supported his family working in various jobs as a self-employed Handyman, a School Bus Driver, a Custodian and general jack of all trades.
Ray had 10 children with his wife Wilma and they also shared 12 grandchildren. Besides his wife, Ray was also preceded in death by his granddaughter Charley Hill in 2010, son Galen in 2010, son Joshua in 1998, son Warren in 1992, son Todd in 1991 and grandson Marcus Medina in 1990.
Despite the tragedies in his life Ray was always positive, happy and gracious to be alive up to his last moments.
He is survived by his children Linda Hill, Monica Rheingans, Karen Bianchi, Steve Hill, Nona Medina and Charlie Hill and 10 grandchildren.
