Genevieve P. "Zicky" Abbring, 87, of DeMotte, IN, passed away March 18, 2015 with her loving family around her. Born December 22, 1927, in Muskegon, Michigan, she was the third of four children born to Ira H. and Hattie (Voss) Banninga.
She grew up in Muskegon, Michigan, and attended Hope College where she met the love of her life, Norman T. Abbring. They were married August 8, 1947, in Muskegon, Michigan.
She was a member of American Reformed Church of DeMotte, where she was an active member of the Hope Circle and other ladies' groups. She worked at Walstra's Trucking and Fertilizer for 30+ years as a bookkeeper/front office manager.
Genevieve is survived by her sons: Donald T. (JoAnn) and Tim (Deb); seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; sister, Marva; and brother, Paul (Mary) .
Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Abbring; her parents, Ira and Hattie Banninga; and a sister, Lenora Hesselink.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the American Reformed Church, DeMotte, Indiana. Services for Genevieve will take place at 5:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Dan Jelsma officiating. Graveside interment will take place at the DeMotte Cemetery on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Swart Family Mission Fund or The Gideons.
