FUNERAL SERVICES FOR P. L. ADAMS HELD LAST FRIDAY
Funeral services for Peter L. Adams, 77, life long resident of Chariton, who died at the Yocom hospital on Monday evening, July 10, after an extended illness with heart trouble, were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Harry Secor, of the First Baptist church and burial took place in the Chariton cemetery.
Peter L. Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Adams, was born in Chariton, Iowa, on June 1, 1856, and with the exception of a few winters spent in California, his entire life had been lived here. He had never married.
Many years ago he was employed in the Chariton newspaper offices in the mechanical department, and was also a paper hanger and painter.
His parents died many years ago, and a brother, Robt. Adams, preceded him in death in 1917. Two foster nieces, Mrs. Cora Wood Myers and Mrs. Ethel Wood French, both of Los Angeles, Calif. survive him. Mrs. Myers came Thursday to attend the last rites and will spend some time here.
