Elmer Fetters, 78, of 625 Kirkwood Avenue died Thursday night at University Hospital after a long illness. Services will be Monday at the Wellman Mennonite Church. Burial will be in the Wellman Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at Jones Memorial Chapel in Iowa City beginning Sunday.
Mr. Fetters was born Feb. 25, 1888, at Hume, Mo., son of Henry M. and Melissa Meek Fetters. He married Thelma Shumate at Fort Scott, Kansas Nov. 2, 1921. The couple made their home in Kansas until moving to Wellman in 1942. They moved to Iowa City in 1961.
He was a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church.
Surviving are his widow; five sons, Charles of Independence, Kansas, Cecil of Fort Scott, and Elmer, Albert and William, all of Iowa City; two daughters, Mrs. Leon (Altis) Tisdale of Fayetteville, Ark., and Miss Ruth Fetters at home; a sister, Mrs. Lessie Beal of Richards, Mo.; 19 grandchildren and non great-grandchildren.
