Maybelle (Poteete) (Brummett) Kirby was born on January 29, 1942 in Tennessee, the daughter of Charles Glenn Poteete (1912–1967) and Lola Florence (Kirby) Poteete (1921–2000).
She was married 1st as the 2nd wife of John Henry Brummett Jr (1923-May 1973), the son of John Henry Brummett Sr (1893–1982) and and his wife Lena Ethel (Summers) Brummett (1901–1988). {It is noted that Maybelle was married twice to Walter Odell Kirby Sr (28 Nov 1941–30 Apr 2002): They were married 1st on September 7, 1973 in Sumner County, AND they were married 2nd on July 24, 1976 in Trousdale County, with BOTH marriages being solemnized by a county judge! It is, however, believed that their 1st marriage was not legitimate, because Walter was still married to a 1st wife. Then when that 1st wife died in June 1976, Maybelle and Walter were married a 2nd time in July 1976!}
A resident of Whites Creek, Tennessee, Maybelle was 73 years old and a widow when, after a short illness she passed away on March 11, 2015 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
She was survived by five children, as well as brothers, sisters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at the chapel of Highland Hills Funeral Home & Crematory on Brick Church Pike, Nashville, and burial was in Harpeth Hills Cemetery.
