Lucy Ann Landrum Tilley
Lucy Ann Landrum was born at Jackson, Ohio, in the year 1853, being at the time of her death 68 years old. She died February 19, 1921.
She was united in marriage June 27, 1875, to Thomas J. Tilley, to this union was born eight children.
Two children that died in infancy and her husband have preceded her in death.
This leaves to mourn her death one brother, John Franklin Landrum, Jackson, Ohio R.F.D. No. 4, two sons, Arthur of Deegan W.Va., Frank of Washington C.H., Ohio, four daughters, Mrs. Cora Willis, Jackson, Ohio R.F.D. No. 4, Mrs. Myrtle Music, Jackson, R.F.D. No. 3, Mrs. Lulu Baker, Cananville, Ohio and Mrs. Dora Stephenson of Akron, Ohio, four sons-in-laws, twenty-one grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Her memory will stand out in the minds of her children as an ideal mother.
Words cannot recall or depict a picture as it was on the mind, showing a patient, loving mother living her life with a thoughtful care for those about her.
Her happiest moments were when within the inner portals of the home life with a quiet unassuming manner she was always doing the numberous duties of a loving wife and a real mother. To know her was to love and respect her and to be her friend.
She met death with a smile. Her faith in God was unchanging.
She united with the church in her early married life and by the example of the life she lived shown that there is realty in the religion of Jesus Christ with power to save us from sin.
Our highest tribute to her memory is the fact that she was “Mother”.
Mother
Thy mortal being from us must depart. Although fond memories of thee still remain. God keep us in the narrow path of right. And help us think of Heaven when we think thy name.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon, Feb. 21 at Victory Chapel with Rev. Stout officiating. Burial Pierce cemetery in charge of Chas. L. Wood funeral director. [Jackson Standard Journal, Wednesday, March 3, 1921 - Contributed by: Donna Scurlock]
