Listed in a Federal Census born in 1780 East Tennessee. Tennessee achieved statehood in 1796. Bean Station in Grainger County, Tn was settled in Indian territory prior to 1780, making Ruthey Bean a pioneer child. Her son James listed his birth 1826 in White County, TN on his daughters marriage license. A hand written note from her descendent listed her children: Robert, Elizabeth, Lathemy, Martha, Canzada, Williamah, Mary, William, Susannah, Edmon, Charlotte, James, Wayman, Sarah and Lucy.

A marriage license is recorded in Grainger County 18 July 1801-2 between William Carter and Ruthey Bean. Surety was given by Washington Bean. Another license dated same day has their names scratched out with other names inserted with surety as John Bean. Saving paper? Two couples came together to get married?
