Betty J. Magnuson, 96 of Paxton passed away at 3:50 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Prairie Village, Rantoul.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Paxton Evangelical Covenant Church, 260 S. Union Street, Paxton with Rev. Craig Pinley officiating. A private family burial will be held in Glen Cemetery, Paxton. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.
Betty was born November 8, 1918 in Springfield the daughter of Irvin C. and Loudema Dicken Woodrum. She married Paul Magnuson in 1959. He preceded her in death July 28, 2002.
She is survived by a son, William I. (Brenda) Bryant of Paxton; two daughters, Patricia J. (Vernon) Franzen of Rantoul, Barbara A. Howell of Champaign; two step-sons, Rodney T. (Sharon) Parks of Fort Collins, CO, Phillip M. (Barbara) Parks of Shorewood; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Betty graduated from Tallula High School in 1936. She retired from Civil Service at Chanute Air Force Base in 1983 after 30 years of employment. She was a member of the Paxton Evangelical Covenant Church, Lakeview Country Club, American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the Loda Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed golfing and traveling.
