Historical records, from direct descendent interviews, by Bessie Garvin, indicate that Jesse Johnson is buried in Gin Branch next to his second wife Mary “Polly” Walker Corbitt in unmarked graves. This information is also published in several books. Mary was widow of William Corbitt. The Garvin collection is on record at USC library. Research in 2015 of historical records of SC Baptist church records at Furman university indicate that Jesse, consort Mary, and his son Jesse Edward Johnson were active members of Rocky Grove Baptist Church. Garvin records also indicate that Jesse’s daughter (Lucinda Ann) married one of Mary’s sons (Benjamin).
