Charlie Skidmore, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas.

Charlie was born on April 24, 1932 in Guilford, Missouri to Charles Duncan and Goldie May (Langley) Skidmore.

He began his career at Swift’s until they closed; Johnson Controls until he retired and worked for Miller Escort Service after his retirement.

Charlie served in the United States Army during the Korean War, he received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Brotherhood Lodge, American Legion #359 and Johnson Controls’ Retiree’s.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Velda, his first wife, Hellen and granddaughter, Melissa.

Charlie married Patricia Louise White on July 1, 1986 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.

Additional surviving family includes daughter, Dee Ann Stamper, of St. Joseph; sons, Mark (Janet) Skidmore, Overland Park, Kansas; Dave (Evelyn) Skidmore and Tom (Marilyn) Skidmore, both of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Anne (Brad) Grieme, Andrew (Christy) Worley, Stephen (Claudia) Duncan, William (Sydney) Duncan, Jeremy Skidmore, Ashley (Shawn) Hoskins, Jenny Skidmore, Jason (Jabriella) Skidmore, Terny (Brian) Wilson, Michael (Stephanie) Heald, Kayla Skidmore, Janessa (Remington) Pierce, Kevin Clayton and Kara Clayton; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 step-children, LeRoy (Gerry) Walker II, Ray Walker, Tom Walker and Tamara Daggett; 7 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will open after 11:00 AM Monday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday evening.

Graveside services 1:00 PM Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
