Elbert Rolland was born in Wortham, Texas, to the late James Ben Watson and Lelia Rebecca Chausse Watson. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953, followed by the U.S. Air Force Reserves, and then on to the U.S. Army National Guard until he retired. On January 20, 1962, he was united in marriage to Joan Banks.
For 34 years, ER was employed with Rocketdyne/Hercules, retiring in 1994 as an electronics technician. He was a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Waco.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; brothers, Elmo Watson and Bennie Frank Watson; sisters, Norma Jean Fisk and Gladys Lansford.
Survivors include his son, Sam Watson and wife, Paula, of Robinson; daughter, Lisa Powers and husband, John, of Plano; grandson, Derek Watson and wife, Savannah, of Waco; granddaughters, Alyssa Moffett and husband Chris, of Waco, Kalyn Henkel and husband, Jack, of Robinson, and Tyler and Haley Watson of Robinson; great-grandchildren, Arianna, Mikaela and Sammie Henkel, of Robinson; brothers, Freddie Watson and wife, Maddie, of Forest Glade, and Charles Watson and wife, Marjorie, of Groesbeck; other relatives and many friends.
