M. Darlene Irwin, 78, of Pittsfield, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield. She was born Feb. 6, 1924 in Hamilton to Walter E. and Adah E. Hull Bennett. She married John C. Irwin June 1, 1942 in Troy, MO and he survives. Mrs. Irwin graduated from Hamilton High School in Illinois and attended St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. She was a lunch supervisor for 36 years at Pikeland Unit 10 School. She was a member of the First Christian Church and served as deaconess of the Church Women Fellowship Circle Five. She also taught primary Sunday school and was a member of the Sunshine Sunday School class. She served on the church pastoral search committee. Mrs. Irwin was also a member of the Order Eastern Star Chapter 295 and The Ladies of the 33o. She was an avid cook for local service clubs and organizations. She enjoyed needlework, crafts, growing roses and her flower garden, and her friends. She enjoyed 12 winters in Yuma, Ariz. For Mrs. Irwin, home was always open to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Vera. Funeral services were Sunday at the First Christian Church in Pittsfield with the Rev. Clay Boyd officiating. Burial was in West Cemetery in Pittsfield.
