Kae V. "KV" Miller died Oct. 24 at age 90 from complications of prostate cancer. He was born July 29, 1921, in Hyrum, Utah, the son of Verna A. Miller and Lola (Johnson) Miller. KV grew up in Hyrum, spending part of the summers in Blue Creek on the dry farm. He had an older sister, Betsy. When he was 11 his mother, Lola, died from respiratory failure. His father then married Matilda Abeschier, and they had two children, Gerald and Maurine.

Kae married Leona "Toni" Hatch on Nov. 12, 1941, and they lived in Hyrum and Logan. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1959 KV moved the family to North Ogden where he started and ran Stucki-Miller Inc. until 1987.

After his retirement KV was a physical facilities manager, supervising the building of LDS chapels in Ghana, Africa, and he and Toni also served as missionaries in Alaska. They lived in Brookings, Ore., from 1991-2003 and moved to St. George in 2004. In 2009 they moved back to Cache Valley. KV remained optimistic and positive to the end, always answering "How are you?" with "TERRIFIC!" even when he wasn't.

KV is survived by his wife, Toni; daughter, Joan (Tom) Anderson; and sons, Brent (Kevon), Bart (Jana) and David (Mary). He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 23-plus great-grandchildren and his siblings, Gerald and Maurine. There will be a memorial service for KV on November 12 at 1 p.m. in the LDS chapel at 2540 N. 400 East in North Logan. Friends are welcome to come before the service from noon to 1 p.m. to greet members of the family.

Family members express their deep appreciation to Dr. Jeff Strong and the many Hospice professionals who provided such wonderful care for KV near the end of his life.
