Leon K. Vardaman, 91, of Victoria passed away Friday, March 13, 2015. He was born July 27, 1923 in Coal Hill, Arkansas to the late Otis and Irene Jones Vardaman.
Mr. Vardaman was an engineer for Southwestern Bell retiring after 37 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the 20th Army Air Force during World War II in Guam and Saipan, receiving the following decorations and citations, American Theater, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre and the Victory Medal.
Survivors include his son, Leon O. Vardaman and wife, Debbie of Inez; grandchildren, Cory Vardaman and wife, Kendalyn and Kelsey Vardaman; one great grandchild, Erwin Jacob Vardaman; and sister-in-laws, Lorna Vardaman and Barbara Fulford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of seventy-one years, Naomi Vardaman in 2013; a sister, Patricia Vardaman and brother, David Vardaman.
Visitation will be held at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Westbrook officiating. Interment with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery
