By the Census , he was either born in 1824 , by the 1860 & 1870 Census or 1817 by the 1880 Census.
His death has been reported as either 1883 or 1885.
Further investigation by Ann McClary, shows that a "John Bullock",
lifespan 1816-1885, is buried near Sarah Woosley, his daughter-in-law, at the Aurora Cemetery.
This information would appear to prove that Ruth Stice - whom married his father in 1817 - is NOT his mother.
John was a farmer.
He was married twice.
First to Tincy Elmore on February 12, 1842 in Brownsville,Kentucky.
They had nine children: Louisa , William , Ruth , Diana , John , Cincinatus , Solomon , Jacob , & Marcellus.
Some sources note Louisa , born in 1837 , as a possible child from a first marriage for Tincy.
Some sources note a 10th child , "Silas" , owing to a Cenus error when recording Marcellus!
Tincy passed away on November 3,1870 in Hamilton , Illinois.
John re-married to Adeline T.Johnson-Topping on September 7,1871 in Jefferson,Illinois.
John & Adeline had one son , Henry. According to family lore , Henry ran away from home , at a young age , and was never heard from again.
At the time of his death , John was survived by his 2nd wife ,all of his children , and three step-children; Sidney , Willis & Cynthia Topping , all from Adeline's previous marriage.

Gravesite Details
It has been suggested by some sources , that John's grave may have been marked by a wooden marker , and time eroded it.
