Mrs. Ferguson Dies In Lodi Residence After Long Illness
Mrs. Elizabeth (Bess) Ferguson, 55, a well-known Lodi resident for a number of years, died at her home, 15 S. Orange ave., yesterday morning following a long illness.
For 13 years Mrs. Ferguson and her husband, Robert J. Ferguson, managed the Stockton Record agency here. Mrs. Ferguson became ill last June and shortly thereafter, they retired from the business.
A native of Corning, Mrs. Ferguson taught school in Chico for some time but retired from the profession upon her marriage. Mr. Ferguson also taught schools in Sonora from 1929 until the couple came to Lodi in 1942.

In Sonora, Mrs. Ferguson was the founder of the Omega Nu Sorority chapter.
She was the mother of Mrs. Phyllis Smith of Palo Alto, and the sister of Mrs. Ethel Gentry of Campbell, Mrs. Rita McCray of Brentwood, Mrs. Eva Webber of Corning, Glenn Beauchamp of Chico and Lee Beauchamp of Williams.
Mrs. Ferguson was a charter member of the Omega Nu Sorority in Lodi, the Altar Guild of St. John's Episcopal Church, the Lodi Order of Eastern Star, the Lodi Woman's Club and the Ribier branch of the Lodi Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was also active in Red Cross activities.
Agency To Close
The Stockton Record agency in Lodi, 728 W. Lodi ave., will be closed from 10 am. to noon Saturday in memory of Mrs. Ferguson.
