Floyd J. Edmunds 87, passed away Tuesday, March 10th, in Abilene. He was born July 23, 1927 in Bushong, Kansas, the son of Miles and Ina (Cortney) Edmunds. Growing up in the Bushong area, Floyd attended local schools and graduated from Bushong High School. He was an Army veteran having served in Korea. On September 9, 1956, he married Lois Frost. Most of their married life was spent in Abilene. She preceded him in death July 19, 1994. In 1995, Floyd married Erna Gaskill. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. She preceded him in death October 7, 2010. On February 8, 2011 Floyd married Ruth Shaw. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. She preceded him in death October 18, 2012. He had been employed by Beachcraft in Wichita, was a mechanic for Dickinson County, drove a school bus for U.S.D. #435 for many years and was a machinist for Ehrsam Manufacturing until retiring in 1990. Floyd enjoyed attending church, collecting tractors, working with the Boy Scouts, watching golf on T.V. and playing pool at the senior citizens center. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, James and Terry Edmunds; four sisters, Ion Christenson, Dorothy With, Dora Fisher and Josephine Watson and two brothers, John and LeRoy Edmunds. Floyd was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.Survived by: 2 Daughters Nancy (Stephen) Page Lakewood, OH Karen Edmunds McArthur, OHBrother Lester (Betty) Edmunds Council Grove, KS Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 14th, at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Abilene with Pastor Shane Britt officiating. Interment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:30 – 6:30 PM Friday, March 13th, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the Emmanuel United Methodist Church. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
