Larry Mode Allen, age 67, passed away March 10, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Larry was born July 9, 1947, in Cleveland County, N.C. He was the son of the late Bill F. Allen and the late Beatrice Allen.
Larry attended Patterson School in Lenoir and graduated from Shelby High School in 1966. Larry is best known for running the All-Da Barbecue after his father retired. He was a member of Cleveland Masonic Lodge 202, Elizabeth Baptist Church, and he was a Shriner. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Deborah Marr Allen of the home, a daughter, Jennifer Allen Canipe and husband Brian of Shelby, NC, two grandchildren, Jackson and Libby Canipe, a sister, Libby Allen Frei and husband Doug of Hickory, NC.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Cleveland Funeral Services and Crematory Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Scott officiating.
Burial will follow at Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery.
