Donald Newton Banks, age 86, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 in Llano, Texas. He was born August 12, 1928 to Albert George and Altha (Faris) Banks in Llano, Texas. He was the sixth of seven children and was raised in the Babyhead – Llano area.

Donald had been a resident of Burnet since 1982 after his retirement from the U.S. Health & Human Services Division.
Donald was a Korean War veteran and served 15 years with the US Air Force. Donald’s career within the government was very diverse and he held several supervisory positions within the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the National Atmospheric Administration (Southern Region).

Donald is survived by his 3 sons, Jim Banks and wife Arlene of KS, Donald Banks, Jr. and wife Sharon of TX., John Banks and wife Paula of TX. One stepson David Burt and wife Becky of TX. Three daughters Linda Banks Miller and husband Steven of KS. Kay Boedeker and husband Gene of TX., and Suzie Dailey of, TX. Stepdaughter Joyce Lyle and husband Jack of WI. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friend Mary Brown of Llano.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred Banks in March of 2014, five brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Chapel in Llano, Texas. Burial followed at Llano City Cemetery.
