Lawrence Edward Ferguson, 92, of Waco, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2006, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at Sparks Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. Margaret A. Friend officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calm Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Bellmead Funeral Home.

Lawrence was born in Athens, Texas, to the late Macon Andrew and Mattie E. (Gordon) Ferguson. He married Iva Lee Prueitt on Nov. 4, 1939, and retired from the Cotton Belt Rail Road after 38 years. He was a member of the AF & AL Maintenance AWAY Union, a member of Sparks Memorial Methodist Church and was also employed at Baylor University.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva, in February 2005; sisters, Mrs. J.B. Rubin and Mrs. J.B. Nelson; and brothers, H.G. Ferguson and Hilton Ferguson.

Survivors include his son, Tim Ferguson and wife, Brenda, of Waco; daughter, Martha Ann Mason, of North Richland Hills; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
