Mr. Fred Dirkes, 70 years of age and a lifelong resident of Albany, passed away at 12:30 A.M., Friday, November 30th after a lingering illness.
Mr. Dirkes was born at Albany, on February 2, 1875. On June 4, 1907 he married Miss Ann Thoennes and they made their home in Albany continually.
He was the father of six children, one of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and the following children, to mourn the loss of their beloved father.
Mrs. John Timmer, Albany, John and Andy of Marble; Mrs. Alfred Lureen of Norcross, and Marcella at home. One brother, Edward Dirkes, of Idaho also survives. There are 13 grandchildren.
The funeral was held at 10:00 o’clock, Monday morning, December 3rd, with Rev. Roderic Albers, O.S.B., officiating at the requiem. The deceased was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
The Pallbearers were: Oswald Silbernick, Michael Lenarz, Steve Lenarz, Fred Christen, Henry Theisen and Albert Hoppe. Anton Reber carried the cross. They are all members of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
