Our Pops went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 8, 2015. What a glorious day!

Ralph McArial Burns, Jr., faithful husband, loving father, and doting grandfather will forever be remembered to us that way.

He was born to Ralph M. Burns, Sr. and Bennie Cox Burns on September 28, 1928. He was first married to Virgie Timmerman for 51 years. He was a loving husband and faithful caregiver to her. After Virgie’s passing, he was fortunate to find love again with Carolyn Collins of Anderson. They were married for 12 years and enjoyed those days together.

Pops was the father of three children: Ralph M. Burns, III (Susan) of Laurens, Nancy Burns Windley (John) of Columbia, and Anita Burns Marco (Bill) of Norcross, Georgia. He was blessed with six grandchildren. In his later years he enjoyed time with his five great-grandchildren.

Pops loved his church. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Laurens and the Barraca Sunday School Class. He believed in the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. His favorite Bible verse was 1st Thessalonians 5:16-18. His family can surely attest that these verses were lived out by him in his life. What a blessing he was to his family!

Pops’ career years were spent at Duke Power where he retired as Manager of the Laurens office. Pops was a Past Master of The Palmetto Masonic Lodge. He was also a Past President of the Laurens Lions Club.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Martha Franks Rasor Chapel. Private burial will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

The visitation will be at The Kennedy Mortuary from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.

The family will be at the home of his son, 205 Bryson Drive, Laurens.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Laurens Memorial Home, 3744 Torrington Rd, Laurens, SC 29360, Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community, 1 Martha Franks Drive, Laurens, SC 29360, or to the charity of your choice.
