Ralph McArial Burns, Jr., faithful husband, loving father, and doting grandfather will forever be remembered to us that way.
He was born to Ralph M. Burns, Sr. and Bennie Cox Burns on September 28, 1928. He was first married to Virgie Timmerman for 51 years. He was a loving husband and faithful caregiver to her. After Virgie’s passing, he was fortunate to find love again with Carolyn Collins of Anderson. They were married for 12 years and enjoyed those days together.
Pops was the father of three children: Ralph M. Burns, III (Susan) of Laurens, Nancy Burns Windley (John) of Columbia, and Anita Burns Marco (Bill) of Norcross, Georgia. He was blessed with six grandchildren. In his later years he enjoyed time with his five great-grandchildren.
Pops loved his church. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Laurens and the Barraca Sunday School Class. He believed in the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. His favorite Bible verse was 1st Thessalonians 5:16-18. His family can surely attest that these verses were lived out by him in his life. What a blessing he was to his family!
Pops’ career years were spent at Duke Power where he retired as Manager of the Laurens office. Pops was a Past Master of The Palmetto Masonic Lodge. He was also a Past President of the Laurens Lions Club.
