John Carl Richardson, 77, of Granite City, Ill., born Aug. 9, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., passed away at 10:56 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton, Ill. Mr. Richardson retired from the Madison County Assessor's Office after 30 years of dedicated service as a field supervisor. He had also worked many years in the photography department at Graham's Bookstore in Granite City. His love in life was photography and he was the photographer for numerous occasions and events throughout the years and also for many years at local race track events. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and enjoyed his days of fishing, hunting and watching racing. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph and Alice, nee Matthews, Richardson; and a brother, Jack Richardson. Surviving are his beloved wife, Carole S., nee Schneider, Richardson, whom he married on April 19, 1959, in Alton, Ill.; a daughter, Deborah Stauffer of Alton; a son, John C. Richardson III of Granite City; grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and Keith Perigo, Brittni Richardson, Jessica Lloyd, Chris and Erin Stauffer and Andrea Stauffer; great-grandchildren, Rylee Perigo, Anderson John Perigo, Madison Stauffer and Taylor Stauffer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sadie and Arthur Lewis of Arnold, Mo., Lola and Lyndall Newell of Fosterburg and Lucinda Richardson of Brighton; sister-in-law, Nancy Richardson; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. www.irwinchapel.com Visitation: In celebration of his life, visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.
