Evelyn C. St. Ledger Williams, 94, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville.

Evelyn was born on June 25, 1909, in Skowhegan, the daughter of George and Carrie Chase.
She was a graduate of Skowhegan High School, Class of 1926.
Evelyn was married to her first husband, Rexford St. Ledger, he passed away May 5, 1970.
Her second husband, Norman Williams, also predeceased her on Jan. 30, 1983.

A longtime resident of Skowhegan, she was a secretary for Judge Clayton Eames for several years and a homemaker for many years. Evelyn also was a member of the Skowhegan Federated Church. Evelyn loved spending time with her family. She considered all of her family to be very special to her. She enjoyed golfing in her younger years and was also a member of a bowling league in Skowhegan.

Evelyn is survived by a son, Bruce G. St. Ledger and his wife, Nome, of Enfield, Conn.; a daughter, Anne Herrin and her husband, James, of Canaan; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. She is predeceased by two sisters, Sen. Margaret Chase Smith and Laura Bernier; three brothers, Wilbur Chase, Lawrence Chase and Roland Chase.

Visiting hours will take place 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Smart and Edward Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating. Internment will follow at Southside Cemetery in Skowhegan. Burial: Southside Cemetery, Skowhegan, Somerset County, Maine, USA.
