Funeral services for William Dale Jones, 70, North English, were held at the North English United Methodist Church. He died Thursday, January 16, 1992, at his home. The Rev. Larry Riegel officiated the service, organist was Catherine Shaull. Burial was in the Bailey Cemetery, Keswick. Casketbearers were William Adams, Lyle Henderson, Gary Hanchett, Carol Zimmerman, Ellis Morse, and Michael Sauter. William Jones was born November 21, 1921, near Keswick, the son of Frank and Hazel Marshall Jones. He graduated from Keswick High School in 1940. He married Phyllis Jordan July 26, 1940, on a farm west of Millersburg. The couple farmed in the North English and Deep River Communities until he retired in 1982. They moved into North English in 1986. Jones was a member of the North English United Methodist Church, the Odd Fellows Lodge, and had served on the Iowa County Farm Service Board, Williamsburg for 16 years. He enjoyed fishing and made annual trips to Minnesota for 40 years. Jones is survived by his wife; two daughters, Janice (Mrs. Donald) Roller, Brooklyn, and Virginia (Mrs. Edwin) Koehn, Millersburg; one son, Ronald Jones, Grinnell; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, one brother, Howard Jones, Columbia, Mo., and one sister, Zelda Goode, Ankeny. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Floyd, Norval, and Charles.
