VIRGINIA "GINNY" BARIBEAU, 88 years old, of Huntington, W.Va., died Sunday, August 5, 2007, at Cabell Huntington Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. She was the middle child of 14 children born to Ewell E. and Lummie Dempsey of Belo, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Bernard M. Baribeau. Ginny obtained B.S. and M.S. degrees from Marshall College and later taught science and home economics at Oley Junior High School and later Beverly Hills Junior High School for over 30 years. She was a quilter and talented seamstress. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church. Ginny and Bernard were active members of the Paw Taw Square Dance Club where they enjoyed the company of many good friends. Ginny is survived by daughter, Jane Flowers and husband Bill of Pensacola, Fla.; daughter Mary Mahaffey and her husband Ed of Watkinsville, Ga.; sisters Arva Reynolds of Delbarton, W.Va., and Sinda Miller of Winfield, W.Va.; sister-in-law Helen Szlemko of Dublin, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Dr. Robert Walker, Rev. Cinda Harkless and Dr. James Harless. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Huntington or the organization of one's choice.
